We’ll bring together top academics including Prof Andy Clegg and Prof Cathie Sherrington for keynote addresses highlighting the latest research in the promotion of physical activity, falls prevention and share findings from major frailty trials. We’ll learn how to use this knowledge to lead and implement change within healthcare and at the political interface. We’ll share passion for advocacy work with older people, understand cultural perspectives on ageing, and debate challenges to keep older people standing as valued members of our community.
You’ll be hosted in the heart of our CBD, a place of greenery, contemporary and classic architecture, scenery and space. It will be easy to attend the conference, enjoy a choice of CBD accommodation options and explore everything you need on foot. The social programme hosted at the conference venue will enable easy opportunities to network with friends and colleagues, and the proximity to green spaces as well as bars, cafes and restaurants will allow the fun to continue!
While you’re in the Canterbury region, take advantage of the wealth of experiences that our dramatic landscape of mountains and sea offers. Activities as diverse as bungy jumping, hot air ballooning, trout and salmon fishing, chartered sea fishing, whale, dolphin and seal watching, hot-water springs, hiking, Lord of the Rings tours, farm tours, jetboating, wine tasting, glacier climbing, mountaineering and mountain biking are within a few hours’ drive.
There are regular flights from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth. We look forward to welcoming you to the conference and encourage you to take the time to discover Christchurch and beyond while you’re here with us.
